Bijzonderheden (particularities)

Noord-Holland, zoals we die nu kennen, bestond niet als zodanig tijdens de franse bezetting van 1795-1815. Vóór 1795 was er één "provincie" Holland, min of meer bestaand uit het huidige Noord-Holland en Zuid-Holland.

Ten tijde van de Bataafse Republiek (1795-1801) was de huidige provincie Noord-Holland opgespitst in twee delen: het departement Amstel (min of meer Groot-Amsterdam) en het departement Tessel (de rest van het huidige Noord-Holland)

Tijdens het Bataafs Gemenebest (1801-1806) waren het huidige Noord-Holland en Zuid-Holland verenigd in het departement Holland.

Ten tijde van het Koninkrijk Holland was het departement Holland gesplitst in het departement Amstelland en het departement Maasland, wat min of meer overeenkomt met de t huidige provincies Noord-Holland en Zuid-Holland.

Toen Nederland integraal onderdeel werd van het Franse Keizerrijk, heette de huidige provincie Noord-Holland: Departement Zuiderzée, maar bevatte ook een deel van de huidige provincie Utrecht.

(North Holland, as we know it today, did not exist as such during the French occupation from 1795 to 1815. Before 1795 there was a "province" Holland, more or less consisting of the current provinces North Holland and South Holland.
At the time of the Batavian Republic (1795-1801) was the current province of North Holland being concentrated into two parts: the Department Amstel (more or less Greater Amsterdam) and the Department Tessel (the remainder of the current province North-Holland).
